• Understanding spatial and temporal aspects of the diversity of tropical amphibian and reptiles.
• Using amphibian and reptile models for understanding tropical ecology and evolution.
• Tracing history of natural history, especially history of herpetology and vertebrate studies.
• Understanding diversity and patterns of vertebrate (especially, turtle) evolution during the Holocene.
• Using amphibians and reptiles as models for explaining ecological processes and as surrogates for conservation and management.
