Dr Eric Cother is a Principal Research Scientist and Curator of the Australian Collection of Plant Pathogenic Bacteria. He is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, Charles Sturt University. He was Editor-in-Chief of Australasian Plant Pathology for seven years and is now that journal's Technical Editor. Dr Cother has 35 years experience in fungal and bacterial pathology of vegetable crops, especially onions and potatoes, the ecology of soft-rot Erwinia spp. and diseases of rice. In addition to identification and diagnostic techniques, his specialty is plant pathogenic bacteria and the ecology of endophytic microflora and their involvement in disease. He has published 71 refereed journal papers, 99 conference papers and 3 book chapters. Dr Cother has supervised 6 Ph D students and received competitive funding from several national and international funding agencies.
