ICAS 10 - Call for Proposals The International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) is the largest international gathering in the field of Asian Studies. ICAS attracts participants from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas. Since 1997, ICAS has brought more than 20,000 academics together at nine conventions. Experts in the field of Asian Studies will meet in the delightful Northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, famous for its rich cultural heritage. Events will include: panels and roundtable discussions, keynote speeches, craft exhibitions, a film and documentary festival and the first Asian Studies Book Fair. Deadline Proposals and ICAS Book Prize: 10 October 2016 Convention Dates: 20-23 July 2017 Convention Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand ICAS 10 Chang Mai ICAS 10 will be held at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre (CMECC) from 20-23 July 2017. It will be organized by the Regional Center for Social Change and Development (RSCD), with support from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Chiang Mai University (CMU), one of the best universities in Southeast Asia. 1250-2000 Asia specialists and representatives of civil society are expected to attend. Call for Proposals – deadline: 10 October 2016 The submission deadline for proposals of Individual Abstracts, Panels, Roundtables, Book presentations and PhD Dissertation presentations is 10 October 2016. Please note that all abstracts and presentations should be in English. Submission of proposals can be made using ICAS 10 registration forms, available from www.icas.asia. ICAS Book Prize – deadline: 10 October 2016 The ICAS Book Prize (IBP) was established by the International Convention of Asia Scholars in 2004. The IBP is awarded for outstanding publications in the field of Asian Studies. It aims to create an international focus for publications on Asia while increasing their worldwide visibility. For this seventh edition, books in Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese and Korean will be eligible. For more information see http://www.icas.asia/en/icas-book-prize Travel Fund Participants are expected to fund their own travel and accommodation. Limited financial support is available for some junior or low-income scholars. If you would like to be considered for financial support, please submit the Grant Application form in which you state the motivation for your request. Please note that ICAS 10 operates on a limited budget, and will only be able to provide a partial grant to the selected recipients. The form should also be submitted before 10 October 2016.
