The 27th World Congress on Innovation & Technology (WCIT 2023) and the 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS 2023) are two major events in the global tech industry. This year, the Sarawak Government is hosting both events simultaneously, from October 4th to 6th, 2023 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
WCIT has been a significant platform for the world's information technology industry since its inception in 1978, offering opportunities to connect for global trade. IDECS is a homegrown conference by the Sarawak Government, that aims to promote financial well-being, societal equity, and ecological health. It reinforces the Sarawak Government's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the digital age, which are enabled by data and technological advancements. IDECS has grown in leaps and bounds and the 5th edition, held last year, witnessed over 2,500 participants with 40,000 online viewers. This immense collaboration is set to make this year’s edition of IDECS more exciting.
In addition, the inaugural She-Tech Asia Forum 2023 is an empowering platform co-located with WCIT|IDECS 2023, organised by the Sarawak Government and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC). Its mission is to actively involve women in the region and achieve a significant milestone of 30% representation of Women in the Sarawak Tech industry by 2030. Inline with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), this engaging forum goes beyond discussions, showcasing women empowerment to driving economic prosperity with a strong focus on social inclusivity and gender equality - vital sustainability goals that we actively pursue.
