Ts Angeli Ambayya

Angeli Ambayya is a Scientific Officer (Ministry of Health, Malaysia). She is passionate about research in the field of hemato-oncology.

Angeli Ambayya is a Scientific Officer in the Ministry of Health Malaysia since 2007. Previously, she was a Scientist at the Gribbles Pathology Malaysia (2006). Angeli specialises in flow cytometry, genetics and genomics of haematology malignancies. She is trained in flow cytometry and stem cell transplantation at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia (2010) and the University of York, United Kingdom. She obtained her genomics and precision oncology certification from Harvard Medical School (USA) and underwent bioinformatics training at Newcastle University (United Kingdom) in 2019.

Angeli led several MOH Malaysia research projects, including Haematological Reference Intervals in a Multiethnic population that included 2725 subjects nationwide. She was also the project leader and principal investigator for several genetics and genomic projects on acute leukaemia patients.

Angeli has been awarded prestigious local and international awards that include Berend Houwen Travel Award (2015 and 2016), Mentee for the International Society for Laboratory Hematology (ISLH) (2017-2018), Best Abstract Awards by the Malaysian Society of Haematology (2016,2018,2020 and 2023), Travel Awardee by the International Society for Laboratory Haematology (2020 and 2023) and Best Abstract Award by the ICBMT Korea (2020) and Travel Award by ICBMT 2023.

She has been serving as a  scientific committee for the  ISLH since 2019 and a committee member for the International Scientific Webinar Organised by the Malaysian Association of Science Officers (PPSM). She is also an active reviewer for local and international journals that include Springer Nature, Wiley, PlosOne, etc. She has been invited as a speaker in several local and international conferences since 2011.
