Celebrating 25 years of fish breeding success in the Philippines

In July 2011, the Philippines Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources celebrated the 25th anniversary of its first success at milkfish (bangus) spawning in captivity. During the celebrations the IDRC's Wilfredo Reyes accepted a Plaque of Recognition for our contributions to the country’s milkfish breeding program.

New project to study the impact of recent policies related to avian influenza (H5N1) outbreaks in China, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in association with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and AusAID have launched a project to assess influenza risks in light of recent policy changes in Southeast Asia that encourage small poultry farmers to concentrate their production activities in specific zones.
