Farming in the desert-advantage and limitation, the Israeli experience

The main advantages of the desert are intensive sun radiation, wasteland and a very low population density. The main disadvantages are not only scarcity of water resources but also the high salinity, as well as frequently occurring extreme climate conditions.

The Grand Prix of the 34th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products was awarded by the International Jury to researchers from the Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology, for their manufacturing process for organic medical material which does not damage or discolour and produces no toxic gases during sterilisation

Updates on Bird Flu from International meetings in Africa
1-December-2005

The meetings included the Conference of Parties (CoPs) of the Wetlands and Migratory Species conventions and a round table discussion on Avian Influenza where two important resolutions were passed.
